The Second Annual Stone Soup Event was a huge success thanks to the many volunteers that volunteered their time to eliminate hunger in our community.
This was truly a community event with everyone coming together to help us pull this event off. A big Shout Out to Twisted Willow who took the community donations of fresh vegetables and prepared this wonderful soup, thank you to The Daily Baking Company for their donation of outline the next cash and rolls and Java Dock for the baked good. To the countless volunteers who chopped up vegetables, baked cookies, brought in healthy snacks or canned goods to fill the pantry shelves, we say thank you. A special thanks to Nancy Gierach and St. Peters Church for opening their doors and welcoming us in to host this event.
Sixty volunteers helped package over 200 quarts of soup for the three partner agencies. We doubled our output from the previous year. In addition we collected:
o Over 122 complete meals were provided
o Additional 200 non-perishable items were collected and distributed
o 782 Baked Goods were supplied
o 4 Big Boxes of Healthy Snacks were delivered to Advocates for their children living in shelter
o Fed 7 individuals who are Food Pantry clients
o 100 Notes of encouragement were created by Girl Scout Troop and will accompany the meal packages
